HOLY WEEK AND EASTER AT HAMPSTEAD : |
We were able, as ever, to be with our Lord throughout his journey into Jerusalem; in the Upper Room for the Mass of the Last Supper, followed by our watch at the Altar of Repose (Gethsemane); then at the foot of the Cross on Good Friday for the Solemn Liturgy. This year it was a delight to sing Pontifical High Mass at midnight for the first Mass of Easter as well as at 12 Noon on Easter Day. Sincere thanks to Deacons Eric and Emilio for all they did during these memorable days. They were with the Bishop for the whole time, as was Dame Della Edling. It was a pleasure to see some of our Holborn & St. Pancras people at various services as well as people from Chelsea, North Kensington and St. Marylebone. Sung Mass of the Chrism was celebrated at 11am on Maundy Thursday, with the actual Maundy Mass at 7pm with foot washing and procession to the Altar of Repose. It is never easy being both Bishop and Housekeeper/Cook at such a busy time(!) but there were many hands to help in the kitchen so all was well. Thanks to you all. Particular thanks to Deacon Eric for his great generosity and to Deacon Emilio for his unexpected Easter gift of a beautiful set of Stations of the Cross for the Hampstead Chapel.
At the Palm Sunday Mass Bishop Anthony distributed branches of Lavendar, instead of the more customary Palm Crosses. The congregation considered this a most poignant gesture. Fathers Frank, Harry, Flynn and Vojen also celebrated Holy Week and Easter in our various Mission centres. |

ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL, NORTH KENSINGTON AND PADDINGTON : |
Mass was offered on the Wednesday in Easter week at 6pm at Mair Jeffery’s Art Studios in Lancaster Road, W11 – just round the corner from Portobello. The Studio/Chapel was solemnly dedicated to St. Michael and blessed with Easter water. Thanks so very much, Mair, for everything you do. A delicious supper followed the Latin Mass and was enjoyed by all. The next Mass is planned for Monday, May 8th, the Solemnity of the Apparition of Saint Michael Archangel. See Kalendar. Photos were taken at the Easter Wednesday Mass and one should be on the website soon. Mair is a talented artist and we hope she may undertake an ikon of St. Michael. |

ST. JOHN BAPTIST, EBBW VALE & TREDEGAR: |
The April Mass was quite well attended at the home of Miss Casey in Georgetown, Tredegar. Thanks so very much, Miss Casey, for all you do. Several Catholics from Tredegar who had lapsed over the years on account of the absence of the Old Mass, have been restored to the Church. Two Six Bells stalwarts attended the Tredegar Mass when Fr. Flynn took the text of his homily from Corinthians: “the greatest of these is charity”. Forgive us, God, if we sometimes lack this precious gift!
The Bishop hopes to be with you on Friday, May 5th at 6pm. The following day, Saturday 6th May, Pontifical Mass of St. John before the Latin Gate will be offered at Abertillery at Noon at Mrs Morgan’s. This will be followed by lunch and meeting. Can people from our other Wales & Monmouthshire missions attend? |

DO KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!! |
They are a source of real income to the Archdiocese and help tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we have already stressed: many of our older Faithful don’t have access to a computer – and thus to our Web Site – and really do rely on the “old fashioned word” as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who’ve sent stamps during April. Any Eastertide donations would also be most welcome and cheques should be made payable to “The Traditional Roman Catholic Church” and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr. Simon Gibbs at:
Gibbs & Co., Blackwell House, Guildhall Yard, London, EC2V 5AE.
God will bless you. Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors |

OUR LADY AND ST. PETER, FORFAR AND ANGUS: |
During informal Chapter of Advice talks during the Easter weekend, it was agreed that Father Harry Anson be appointed Vicar General for Scotland. Father Harry has worked so hard for the Archdiocese over several years and we thank him sincerely for all his loving and staunch support. We will discuss with Father a convenient time soon for a Scottish Visitation when he can be installed as Vicar General. We look forward so much to being with our Scots faithful again and not least to being in Edinburgh, Linlithgow, St. Andrews and Angus. God bless you all. + |

NEXT SUNG MASS AT ST. MARYLEBONE: |
is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10th at 7pm. The Mass will be a Votive of Ss. Cosmas and Damian, Patrons of the Mission. Once more we thank Ben Duncan for all he does. We do hope that our St. Pancras students can attend because after the Mass we will enjoy our usual sausage and mash student supper!! Bolsover Street remains the venue. Please make every effort to attend. |

ST. MATTHIAS, BARNSLEY CENTRAL: |
The great work proceeds as Deacon Eric spreads the Good News among his neighbours. We thank Father Frank Dunlavey for all he is doing to support Deacon Eric. Bishop Anthony will visit Barnsley shortly to encourage the little Mission and meet its new supporters. Eric is now studying hard towards his priesting and we ask your prayers for him as he commits himself to the body of the Levites. Please pray too for our Barnsley sick, including Brian Fisher; also for little Nellie. |

SOLEMNITY OF SAINT PANCRAS: |
May is indeed a month of Feasts, as well as the merry month of our Lady!
There is one more most important Feast for your diaries – that of St. Pancras, secondary Patron of the entire Archdiocese. This occurs on Friday, May 12th with Solemn Pontifical Mass at 6pm. The venue is yet to be announced because this is also the Patronal for the Holborn and St. Pancras Mission. There will be a drinks party afterwards. Do please make a very special effort to attend. After the Mass Mr. Benjamin Duncan will be installed as a Knight of the Order of Saint Pancras as a thank-offering for everything he has done over several years for the whole Archdiocese. BAPTISM AND RECEPTION INTO THE CHURCH: |
We earnestly ask your prayers for Mrs Wendy Taylor who has, in recent months, become attached to St. Anthony’s, Hampstead. Wendy works in medical research and had been a life-long protestant, though never baptised. After a period of Instruction she will be baptised and received into the Church sometime this summer. This has been for her an immense turning point. May Jesus and Mary watch over her as she embarks on this exciting spiritual journey! +Deo Gratias!+ |
