SCOTTISH REPORT:

St Blane and All Saints, Arbroath:Canon Anson happily reports that our new premises are now completed with two areas – church Mass centre as well as the ever useful office which will be of enormous help as the work in Angus continues apace. Thank you with all our hearts to local benefactors.
The first Mass has already been offered and Bishop Anthony plans to make a special Visitation early in the new year to consecrate St.Blane’s.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus at Montrose: The debt we all owe to our dear Father Harry(Canon Anson) cannot be overstated.Another small Mission of three people has been established in the pleasant seaside town of Montrose. (When two or three are gathered in my Name…..) As we shall never tire of saying, it is the people and NOT the priests who make the Mission. We hope for great things out of both Arbroath and Montrose and proof, indeed, of what can be accomplished by just a handful of dedicated laity is revealed at DUNDEE…
Saint Curitan’s, Dundee: Canon Anson now offers two Friday Masses at Dundee and there is an average of 30 weekly communicants, mainly older Faithful (although with some younger people too) who love the Old Rite.
All this!..with the work at Our Lady and St.Peter at Forfar and at Saint David’s, Kirriemuir is certainly keeping the good Canon very busy and we thank him with all our hearts for everything.

FEAST OF THE INFANT OF PRAGUE:

This is kept on Monday, 8th January and truly is one of the most poignant reminders of the sacred humanity of JESUS. There will be Solemn Mass at Hampstead at Noon.
The times of Masses in Bohemia that day will be agreed upon by our priests and people there.
It is of course intrinsically a Czech holyday and only kept outside Bohemia and Moravia by those with a special devotion to the Infant – Prazske Jezulacko.
With all our hearts we thank Fathers Vojen and Zezulek for all they do. Father Zezulek telephoned Bishop Anthony on December 27th and informed him that 42 people were present at the Hradec Midnight Mass.
Father Vojen offered Mass on Christmass Eve at 8pm in Chrudim when 11 people were present and again on Christmass Day at Bila Hora, Prague at 11am when 16 people were present. That Mass was followed by lunch and we thank Petr and Gabriella for everything. As we write Father is staying at Bila Hora until the beginning of January and we wish him a relaxing holiday.
Bishop Anthony will travel soon to the Czech Lands and looks forward so much to being with you.

SAINT WINIFRED’S, CARDIGAN:

Paul Martin reports that 12 people attended Sung Mass at Llandysul on Saturday, December 16th, slightly less than he had hoped because term had ended at Lampeter University.
Father Simms gave an inspiring Advent Reflection. After lunch most of those present volunteered to drive into various villages and distribute leaflets about the Archdiocese. Four people have since contacted Paul.
As is the growing tradition at Cardigan the Mass was entirely in Latin but the Epistle and Gospel in Welsh.
Father Simms is not a Welsh speaker but is apparently enjoying learning the language! He was able to spend a long weekend at Llandysul and so there was Sunday Mass as well when the numbers rose by one to 13!!
Mrs Bronwen Price, one of our Cardigan Faithful, wrote recently to Bishop Anthony “with tearful thanks for restoring to me the Old Mass which I have missed for the last forty years.”
The Cardigan people are planning a Spring Visit to our people in the Rhondda when they hope to make a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Penrhys.

IN FUTURE:

Some Archdiocesan news and certain forthcoming events will not be listed on the Website but available only in the printed, manual copies of our News/Kalendar which are sent by post to the Faithful.
Some 300 of these now go out monthly by post – a labour of love only made possible because of the great generosity of so many of you in sending regular postage stamps!

SAINT TERESA’S, SOUTHAMPTON:

The next Mass will be in February. In particular Bishop Anthony thanks most warmly our supporters in Southampton for their love and great support. Special thanks to Mrs Peggy Derwent for another generous donation over Christmass to the Archdiocesan funds.Peggy’s eyesight is failing and we beg your prayers for her. Bishop Anthony will offer a special Mass for Peggy on Saturday, January 13th at Noon. We also thank Mr. Harry Docksey for his recent generosity. The Southampton Mission owes a debt to Dame Patricia Earl-Williams for all she does – all for love of Jesus, Mary and St.Teresa.

SAINT JOHN BAPTIST, EBBW VALE AND TREDEGAR:

There was in December an adult baptism at Ebbw Vale when Father Flynn received Mr. Mervyn Owens into the Church and baptised him.Mervyn who is 43 was a lifelong Methodist but his wife is a cradle Catholic. It was no hasty decision – in fact Mervyn had prayed about it for several years when his wife was still attending the Novus Ordo Mass from which she was becoming increasingly alienated. We thank all the Ebbw Vale and Tredegar Faithful (NOT forgetting Cwm!!) for all they do – not least Mrs Bowcher who collects Fr.Flynn by car from Breconshire every time.+

SAINT ALOYSIUS, CLAPHAM AND BATTERSEA:

The little Mission, largely Irish students, has recently expanded by two after a young married couple, Jason and Paulette, traditional Catholics, discovered us on the church website. On Tuesday, December 19th there were 8 people present at the Clapham Mass in Bonneville Gardens. Many thanks to Margot for her usual hospitality.

DO PLEASE KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!!

They are a source of real income to the Archdiocese and help tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we have already stressed: many of our older Faithful do not have access to a computer and thus to our Web Site and really do rely on the old fashioned word as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who have sent stamps during September. Any Autumn donations would also be most welcome. Cheques should be made payable to:The Traditional Roman Catholic Church; and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr. Simon Gibbs, our Archdiocesan Treasurer, at:

Gibbs & Co. ,Blackwell House, Guildhall Yard, London, EC2V.5AE.
God will bless you. Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors.
