INCARDINATION OF BISHOP DAVID BOWLER AND FATHER RICHARD EDEY:

We announce with joy in the Lord that Bishop David and Father Richard, both of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, have been Received and Incardinated into the ArchConfraternity of Our Lady of Victories. In Bishop Bowler’s own words: “We had been giving this thought, consideration and much prayer over the last few months; therefore we are delighted that you were willing to take us on board in a permanent union, following our conversation last evening.”  Bishop Dunlavey, the Clergy and Chapter were in unanimous agreement and matters were settled on July 5th, Feast of Saint Antony Mary Zaccaria, The Bishop Metropolitan with the approval and Mandate of The Chapter has appointed Bishop David our Bishop for Northern England and his Title will be  Northumbria and Rufford: Rufford being an ancient Cistercian Monastery situated in the vicinity of Mansfield. Bishop Anthony was one of the co-Consecrators at Bishop David’s Consecration to the Episcopate, Bishop Andre Queen being Principal Consecrator. Our new bishop will be installed at an autumn date to be announced. He and Father Richard live a Benedictine heremitical life of monastic prayer with full round of Mass and daily Offices. Father Richard continues his sacerdotal ministry in the Mansfield area, including prison visiting, and is widely known and called upon for his spiritual direction.

Bishop David and Father Richard are well known to Bishops Anthony & Francis, as well as to Dame Della Edling, Chairman of The Chapter. With humble joy we say to them both: Welcome with all our hearts!

PLEASE DO PRAY THE DAILY INTENTIONS WITH US!

These are for our Parishes, Missions and for the Clergy. The Intentions are also for Peace in the World, specially Zimbabwe/Rhodesia and Palestine. We remember at Mass every month all on the Sick List, all dying of aids and cancer and all who have died tragically. Bishop Anthony offered a special Requiem in July for the two French students who were so brutally murdered in New Cross, South London. Please also remember Charlie, a young man in his early twenties who was doused with petrol and set alight, recently in Ealing, dying in unspeakable agony. They are surely already in Heaven with Jesus and Mary!  +Agnus Dei: dona eis Requiem.  Maria! ora pro eis+

DO PLEASE KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!!

They are a source of real income to the ArchConfraternity, helping tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we’ve already stressed: many of our older Faithful don’t have access to a computer – and thus to our Web Site – and really do rely on the “old fashioned word” as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who’ve sent stamps during July. Please send a donation for The Assumption. Cheques should be made payable to “The Traditional Roman Catholic Church” and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr.Simon Gibbs, our ArchConfraternity Treasurer, at:
Gibbs & Co.,Blackwell House,Guildhall Yard,London,EC2V.5AE.
God will bless you.    Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors.

WILL CLERGY AND GUARDIANS

please send in any new names to be included on the Sick List at your earliest convenience – and tell us to remove others! Thanks.Holy Mass is offered monthly for all on the List.

SAINT DAVID LEWIS,MONMOUTH & USK:

The Solemnity of Saint David Lewis occurs on Tuesday,26th August by which time Father Flynn will have returned from Normandy- we hope much refreshed. There will be Solemn Mass at 6pm at Usk thanks to Mrs Peterson, and the annual devotions at the grave of Saint David Lewis will take place probably before Mass. Patronal supper will follow and we are, as ever, quite indebted to Renee Peterson and to all our Monmouth stalwarts for their generosity and deep devotion. Do please forgive us that we don’t mention you in these Notes as often as we should! There is usually a weekly Mass at Monmouth, Abergavenny or Usk – not all listed in the Notes. For details, please consult Fr. Flynn.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS,WORTHING:

Our devoted Worthing flock also feel neglected, and not least because Worthing was one of our founding Missions under the Guardianship of the late Mrs Jessica Boggis who did so much for us. A special annual Solemn Requiem is always offered for her in February, the month of her death. We thank Mrs Todd of West Worthing and Miss Burton of Lancing in particular for all they do. Eleven people were present at the last Mass on Friday, July 4th at Miss Burton’s, and the next Mass will be offered on Saturday 16th August at Noon at Mrs Todd’s. Bishop Anthony is hoping to have a dip in the Worthing sea – in memory of so many happy Worthing times with Joyce Carpenter. Pray for nice weather!!
