THE LATE MRS EILEEN CONRAD-FRANKOWSKA:
|
The Chapter of Advice announces with sorrow the death on December 20th 2008 of Mrs Eileen Conrad-Frankowska, one of the founding signatories of our original Traditional Catholic Jurisdiction and senior member of The Chapter. She would have been eighty seven on Christmass Day and had been in failing health for two years during which time she was cared for by her daughter in Bath. Eileen battled to the end and appointed herself Guardian of our small Mission of The Good Shepherd at Bath. She had been a close friend of Bishop Anthony for almost thirty years. She retired from the Civil Service in 1983 as a Senior Income Tax Inspector (Somerset House Division).
Eileen’s life long commitment to the traditional Latin Mass was second to none and she embraced The ArchConfraternity with enthusiasm as well as deep piety. To the very end of her London life she managed to come to Mass, even if pushed in a wheel chair. Mass was also offered frequently in her Hampstead house.
Though it was not what she wanted, her funeral Mass was offered at the Dominican Priory in Hampstead on January 8th. At least she would have approved the beautiful music by Purcell and Taverner. The Mass was followed by burial in Hampstead Cemetery. Bishop Anthony blessed the grave and our ArchConfraternity members, Ben Duncan and Vicky Carpenter, with others, were present for the graveside prayers lead by Bishop Anthony. Bishop Robert McBride came from Kettering to attend the funeral which was followed by a beautiful reception at Eileen’s house where many old friends gathered to toast her memory. Fr. Emilio Tundidor and Fr. David Bradley had both intended coming but unfortunately were prevented by pressing commitments in their secular employment. Our Clergy have all offered a Mass of Requiem for her in the Old Rite and a Solemn Mass of Requiem was offered in the Hampstead Oratory. The ArchConfraternity will somehow never be quite the same without Eileen; yet we know she is safely on her way to God, reunited with Jan, her late Polish husband, who was a fighter pilot in the War and whom she missed so much. We thank Fr. Graeme Rowlands, Parish Priest of Saint Silas, Kentish Town, for the Mass which he offered for Eileen on the seventh day after her burial. Eileen had high regard for Fr. Graeme and Saint Silas, and the Mass there will have helped her and pleased her. + Rest in Peace, dearest Eileen, and Rise in Glory! +

| OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY, PETERBOROUGH: |
Bishop Francis Dunlavey and Mrs June Dunlavey report that work on the new Peterborough Oratory has had to be postponed on account of a very painful twisted neck sustained by June recently. June, an enthusiastic painter and decorator, suffered this injury during an avid “high reaching” session with a paint brush! We wish her better and thank them sincerely for all they do. Renewed grateful thanks to Shane, their son, for his efficient management of our website.

OUR LADY OF PENRHYS, RHONDDA: |
The January Mass on Friday, 23rd was very well attended by 22 people, including two car fulls from Abertillery and Ebbw Vale. The New Year party which followed was a great success when plans and hopes for 2009 were discussed. Father Flynn reports that two people are now preparing for Confirmation. The next Mass is on Wednesday 11th February, Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, at Treorchy as usual. Many, many thanks to Glenys and Dai for everything. God +bless all in the Rhondda!

SAINT SEBASTIAN, SHEPHERDS BUSH: |
The Patronal Mass on Tuesday, 20th January was well attended by 26 Faithful, including Catrina Morgan and Katie Churchill from Abertillery!! When I arrived at Eileen O’Connor’s house that evening, Catrina and Katie were there! Of course, it had been arranged in advance and the Abertillery ladies had already been with Eileen for two days. A surprise – and a most pleasant one!
Much was discussed about our Faithful all over Britain, as indeed they are, getting to know each other. A second surprise awaited the Bishop: Jeff McIntyre from Adelaide in Australia and a friend for 17 years, was also there. Yes, Jeff, I know you come every year to England, but you might have told me! Jeff was thurifer at the Mass and the entire evening was wrapped up in the love of our Redeemer at Holy Mass and in the love and fellowship we have for each other. But, Eileen, no more surprises just yet – thank you!

| DO PLEASE KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!! |
They are a source of real income to the ArchConfraternity, helping tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we’ve already stressed: many of our older Faithful don’t have access to a computer – and thus to our Web Site – and really do rely on the “old fashioned word” as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who sent stamps in January. Please send a February Donation for Our Lady of Victories. Cheques should be made payable to “The Traditional Roman Catholic Church” and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr.Simon Gibbs, our ArchConfraternity Treasurer, at:
Gibbs & Co., Blackwell House, Guildhall Yard, London,EC2V.5AE.
God will bless you. Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors.

| SS JOHN FISHER AND THOMAS MORE, ROCHDALE: |
Work on the recently acquired building in the recent icy weather and over Christmas/New Year was postponed , but Peter and his colleagues are back on the job, all of which is being undertaken by the Parish’s supporters. Bishop Anthony asked the Quinns not to send any donations to the Central Fund but to put every spare penny into the new building. Needless to say, Moira still sent a kind Christmass donation to the Hampstead Mission. Bless you all, dear friends.
Next Mass on Wednesday, February 4th at 6pm at Moira’s. {Father Flynn} Supper and Meeting.
