WORTHING AGAIN FOLLOWED BY MIDHURST!!
|
In January several of our West Sussex stalwarts suggested to Bishop Anthony that he could combine Visitations to Worthing and Midhurst over a two day period to lighten the travel load. This began in early February when there was Solemn Mass at Worthing on Friday, February 6th at Noon. The snow had luckily largely abated in the South East so the train journey to Worthing was possible. There was Rosary and Benediction later in the day and Bishop Anthony stayed with the Todd family overnight. This provided plenty of time for talks with our Faithful. Four of the Hove people attended the Mass which was followed by lunch. Hearty thanks to Marie Todd for her hospitality. The next morning Mr Harrop, one of our Midhurst Faithful, collected Bishop Anthony by car and drove him over to Mrs Ullathorne’s where there was Pontifical Solemn Mass at Noon. This combined Visitation will continue this month when there will be Solemn Mass at Worthing on Friday, 27th at 6pm, followed by Supper and our monthly Meeting. On Saturday, 28th Bishop Anthony will sing Mass again at Midhurst at Noon. Saturday’s Mass will be a Votive of Our Lady of Sorrows as we prepare for Passion Week. *The Hove Mass in March will be offered on Wednesday 11th at 1pm at the usual Palmeira Avenue address. Thanks so much to Maisie and our loyal Hove band who also do their best to come to Worthing and/or Midhurst if they can.

SAINT MATTHIAS, BARNSLEY CENTRAL: |
Deacon Eric Bilton is slowly going about the task of building up the Mission as well as continuing his studies. Having discussed the matter with The Chapter of Advice, Bishop Anthony proposes raising Deacon Eric to the Sacred Priesthood in the late Spring, on a date as yet to be fixed. This truly will help our apostolate in Northern England and we do ask all our people to pray for Eric who is also building up gradually his collection of vestments and other ecclesiastical requisites. We also thank Eric for his great generosity to The ArchConfraternity in recent months.

| SAINT TERESA, SOUTHAMPTON: |
Dame Patricia Earl-Williams, Southampton Guardian, underwent an operation on her right shoulder on January 23rd and is recovering well. We are so happy to report that the debilitating pain which made the surgery necessary has gone. Many in The ArchConfraternity have been praying for her and through these Notes she thanks everyone for their kind wishes, letters and cards. In particular Bishop Anthony specially thanks Joan Reed and Mary Pearman of Saint Teresa’s Mission for all their unstinting support and magnificent kindness over these weeks. We hope to announce the date of the next Southampton Mass very soon. Meanwhile many thanks to another of our Faithful, Mrs Doris Ford, for a recent kind donation which is much appreciated. May dear Saint Teresa pray for you all.

ANNUAL LENTEN APPEAL: |
As last year, our Lenten Appeal is in aid of The Leukaemia Research Fund which does so much to help people suffering from that terrible illness. We do beg you to be generous. Please send a donation, however small, to Bishop Anthony’s Office (address at top of Kalendar page). Cheques should be made out to “The Leukaemia Research Fund”. Thank you. God will bless you.

SAINT WINIFRED AT CARDIGAN: |
The February Mass was at Lampeter on Friday, 13th when Father Flynn reported eleven people. Unfortunately the Mass was omitted from the Kalendar. This West Wales Mission is a mixture of “Town and Gown” (students & local residents) and we owe Paul Martin a debt of gratitude for all he does. The March Mass will be on Monday 2nd, Feast of Saint David, Patron of Wales – which is this year transferred, in Wales, Monmouthshire and London only, from Sunday March 1st. The Mass will be Solemn and followed by a “Saint David’s lunch”. Llandysul at Noon. There will also be Mass at Cardigan on Passion Sunday, March 29th at Noon, courtesy of Miss Owens. We are sorry to learn that Paul has recently been unwell; he informs Bishop Anthony that, after a very severe and prolonged bout of Winter Flu, he is now much improved. Thanks to our Cardiganshire stalwarts for all they do.

| SAINT JUDE’S, COVENT GARDEN: |
The next Mass is on Friday, March 6th, 7pm at Shaftesbury Avenue.
We are glad to report that Dame Della Edling, Guardian of the Mission and Chairman of The Chapter of Advice, is very much improved following her second knee replacement at the end of November. |

| SAINT CURITAN, DUNDEE AND OUR LADY & ST.PETER, FORFAR IN ANGUS |
Canon Harry Anson offers two Friday Masses at Dundee which continue to be well attended, although recent snowy conditions have been far from helpful for Father, driving as he must, on hilly roads between Forfar and Dundee. The daily witness at the Aberlemno Oratory proceeds along its usual prayerful routine and The Chapter thanks Canon Anson, who is also Vicar General for Scotland, for all he does, ably assisted by his beloved and trusty dog, Dougal!! We thank too Mrs Jenny Edwards for her support and witness in the neighbouring small Mission of Saint David at picturesque Kirriemuir, also in beautiful Angus.

| DO PLEASE KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!! |
They are a source of real income to the ArchConfraternity, helping tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we’ve already stressed: many of our older Faithful don’t have access to a computer – and thus to our Web Site – and really do rely on the “old fashioned word” as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who sent stamps in February. Please send a March Donation for Saint Joseph. Cheques should be made payable to “The Traditional Roman Catholic Church” and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr.Simon Gibbs, our ArchConfraternity Treasurer, at:
Gibbs & Co., Blackwell House, Guildhall Yard, London,EC2V.5AE.
God will bless you. Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors.

| FEAST OF SAINT JOSEPH, SPOUSE OF OUR LADY: |
Saint Joseph is of course Patron of the Universal Church and his Feast Day falls on Thursday, March 19th which is, in fact, in Scotland an Holyday of Oblig-
ation, but a day of great Devotion everywhere. For Mass times, do please consult Clergy and Guardians.
Solemn Mass at Hampstead at 7pm. March is the month of Saint Joseph. Pray to him daily this Lent!

| |
| SAINT ALOYSIUS, BATTERSEA & CLAPHAM: |
The February Masses were on Friday 13th at 7pm and (not advertised) Sunday 22nd (Quinquagesima) at Noon at Queenstown Road. We have an average of twelve people. Thank you, dear Magda, for all you do; also John, Brian, Clarissa and all our stalwarts there. The March Masses are: Sunday, 15th (Lent 3) at Noon, followed by lunch; and Tuesday, 31st at 7pm at Magda’s.
As our Hampstead and Holborn people know, when the main Sunday Mass is offered at Battersea, there is Low Mass & Benediction at the Hampstead Oratory in the evening. New time is fixed now for 6.30pm

| SAINT DAVID LEWIS, MONMOUTH AND USK: |
The February Mass was on Friday, 20th at 7pm when Mrs Peterson reported fourteen people. March Masses: Sunday 15th at 11am and Monday 23rd at 7pm.
All at Usk. We thank Renee and her “team” with all our hearts for all they do for The ArchConfraternity.
