THE ORDINATION OF REVD.ERIC BILTON TO THE SACRED PRIESTHOOD:

After four years in the Diaconate, Eric was raised to the Priesthood in a moving ceremony on the Feast of Pentecost, Sunday, May 31st. Bishop Anthony pontificated at the Solemn Mass and was assisted by Bishop Robert McBride who acted as Archdeacon and represented the Ecumenical Society of Saint Augustine with which the Arch –
Confraternity is in full communion. Dame Della Edling, Chapter Chairman, was unable to attend because of a previously arranged commitment to visit our Faithful in Scotland. In her absence Dame Joan Rawlins,OSP acted as the canonical witness to the Ordination.
Father Eric’s new vestments, chalice and paten and other altar accoutrements were blessed during the Vigil of Pentecost ceremonies on Saturday evening.
All present commented how moving the service was, especially the intonation  of the Litany of the Saints and the singing of Veni Creator Spiritus.
The Ordination was according to the traditional Roman Rite. We were blessed with beautiful weather and the ensuing delicious buffer lunch, provided by our new priest, was eaten on Bishop Anthony’s terrace.
Father Eric’s first public Mass was offered at the Mission of Saint Matthias, Barnsley Central, on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity on June 7th. There are nice photos of the Ordination on the ArchConfraternity Website. Everyone offers Father Eric hearty congratulations and Godspeed as he builds up his Mission.

FEAST OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD:

This beautiful Feast occurs on Wednesday, July 1st; its importance
is marked in this month’s Devotions. There will be Solemn Mass at Hampstead at 7pm and at Abertillery at 6pm. For other Masses, please consult Clergy and Guardians.

FEAST OF SAINTS JULIUS AND AARON OF CAERLEON:

These Monmouthshire Martyrs were put to the sword in the early British Christian era. There is much devotion to them among traditional Catholics in South Wales and Monmouthshire. Accordingly there will be Solemn Mass at Usk on their Feast. July 3rd.
Thanks to Renee for her constant, generous hospitality and to Father Flynn for all he does. A summer Party will follow the Mass and we hope many from the surrounding Missions will do their best to attend.

OUR LADY OF PENRHYS, RHONDDA:

Another reminder to our South Wales Faithful! The Feast of Our Lady of Penrhys occurs on Sunday, July 19th and is to be observed throughout the ArchConfraternity. It is not of Obligation in the Czech Lands, although Fathers Vojen & Zezulek have already told Bishop Anthony that they will keep this intrinsically Welsh Feast because it is part of the Metropolitan’s Episcopal Title.
Solemn Mass at 11am, thanks to Glenys and Dai. The Celebration “bring-and-share” lunch will be followed by our annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Penrhys. Will our South Wales people please come!!

BISHOP ANTHONY’S VISITATION TO KETTERING:

Bishop Robert McBride is very kindly treating Bishop Anthony to a Heritage Day Steam Train Trip to York from Kettering on Saturday, 11th July (as if I were not boarding and alighting  enough trains already!!). On Sunday, July 12th Bishop Anthony will offer Solemn Pontifical Mass in Bishop Robert’s new Kettering Oratory of Our Lady of Walsingham. The Mass will be at Noon and all are welcome. The Consecration of this new Oratory of The Ecumenical Society of St. Augustine will occur on Saturday, June 27th and will obviously be an occasion for members of that Society.
The Mass on July 12th will be an Old Rite Latin Mass. On Monday, July 13th Bishops Robert and Anthony will drive to Leicestershire for luncheon with Mrs Celia Pemberton, one of Bishop Anthony’s supporters & seamstress-in-chief for Saint Anthony’s, Hampstead, who has now left London. Both bishops are very keen to see Celia’s lovely new cottage.  Bishop Anthony and our London Faithful miss her very much.

FEAST OF SAINTS NICHOLAS AND ALEXANDRA OF RUSSIA:

This takes place annually and is this year on Saturday, July 18th when we commemorate the poignant Martyrdom of Ss Nicholas & Alexandra and their family. There will be Solemn Liturgy at Hampstead at Noon according to the traditional Rite of the Holy Russian Orthodox Church and we do hope many of our London Faithful will come. This is the second Feast of the year (the other being the Triumph of Orthodoxy in January) when we offer Holy Mass according to the Russian Liturgy. It is a joyful reminder to all our Clergy that part of our Apostolic Line of Succession comes through the Russian Orthodox Church which accepts our Orders as valid. The Divine Liturgy will be offered in English and will be followed by the customary Veneration of the Sacred Ikon of the Russian Imperial, Martyred Family which was blessed for us by +Alexei, the late Patriarch of Moscow.

FATHER LUKAS AT HAVLICKUV BROD

The only reason an exclamation mark follows the introduction to this item is because it is always a JOY to report on the great work of our Eastern Bohemia Faithful at Havlickuv Brod!
Our Catholic Chapel-of-Ease is now packed for Solemn Mass at 11am every Sunday and there is now an additional Low Mass at 9am and an Old Rite simple Sung Mass with Czech hymns at 6pm. All Masses are obviously in Latin.
Mass is offered daily at 9am and Father also assists at various parish churches when priests take a holiday. Blessing and thanks to the Czech bishops for their deep charity! Tuesday, July 7th is the Solemnity of Ss Cyril & Methodius – Apostles to the Czechs. Solemn Mass in every Czech Mission. In London Solemn Mass at 7pm.  BOHU DIKY!+++

SAINT TERESA’S, SOUTHAMPTON:

There was an excellent congregation for the  Pontifical Mass on June 27th  at Noon. Father Emilio accompanied Bishop Anthony – he is a great friend of the Bishop’s mother. The Mass was, by tradition, followed by the Veneration of Saint Teresa and the Blessing & distribution of roses. Three new people were present and the attendance was one of our highest ever, even with the absence of those sick or on holiday.  The usual delicious buffet lunch ensued and it was a delight to see all our people and catch up with  the news. Thank you all so very much indeed for your continuing enormous generosity to the ArchConfraternity and our Cause!

DO PLEASE KEEP THOSE SECOND CLASS STAMPS COMING!!

They are a source of real income to the ArchConfraternity, helping tremendously with the postal bill for the despatch of the monthly Notes. As we’ve already stressed: many of our older Faithful don’t have access to a computer – and thus to our Web Site – and really do rely on the “old fashioned word” as a vital means of communication. Particular thanks to all who sent stamps during June.  Please send a July Donation for the Precious Blood. Cheques should be made payable to “The Traditional Roman Catholic Church” and sent to Bishop Anthony at the address at the top of the Kalendar or to Mr.Simon Gibbs, our ArchConfraternity Treasurer, at:
Gibbs & Co., Blackwell House, Guildhall Yard, London,EC2V.5AE.
God will bless you.    Holy Mass is offered monthly for all our benefactors.

OUR LADY OF MERCY, HOLBORN:

The next Mass will be on Friday, July 10th at 11am at Russell Square, thanks to Ruth Seagle. Following the June leaflet campaign, two UCL students contacted us. We look forward very much to seeing them at the forthcoming Mass which will be followed by lunch. The Mission now includes six students.
