ONCE AGAIN WE CELEBRATE THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
|
| |
Bishop Anthony writes:
Let us look this time at the Rosary from a different perspective – the love and honour given to Jesus and Mary every time we say the Hail Mary. Indeed, the very words of the Angelic Salutation bring down upon us blessings in abundance; how could this not be so, for Jesus and Mary will reward everyone who sincerely and lovingly glorifies them! “Love me and thou shalt earn my love … a faithful course I tread … failing never to enrich the souls that love me with abundant store.” (Proverbs 8) Every time we say the Hail Mary we bring enrichment to our souls. “He who sows freely will reap freely too” (Corinthians 2, Ch. 9) So when we say the Hail Mary with gladness we will indeed reap the blessings of God in our hearts. In each Hail Mary we bless both our Divine Lord and His Mother. “Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.” St. Bonaventure said that Our Lady surpasses us all in the virtue of gratitude and would never let us honour her with our devotion without repaying us one hundredfold. He adds that Mary will greet us with grace if we greet her with the Hail Mary. Think of the Visit of Mary to St. Elizabeth: from the moment Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, she was filled with the Holy Spirit and the child in her own womb leaped for joy. If we greet Our Lady with love, she will greet us with numerous blessings and much grace and many spiritual consolations will fill our souls. Remember what St. Augustine said: “The charity of the Blessed Virgin far surpasses the natural love of all mankind and even of all the angels.” And if ever we were tempted to doubt these profound truths, let us remember that the Hail Mary was brought by the Archangel Gabriel to Mary FROM GOD HIMSELF!
+ Whenever we say HAIL MARY, the Court of Heaven rejoices and our hearts are brim-full of the love of God. Whenever we say HAIL MARY, all our fears wilt and die and our worse passions are quelled. When we say HAIL MARY, devotion grows within us and sorrow for our sins becomes real. When we say HAIL MARY, hope is made strong in our breast and the dew of consolation falls on our souls more and more.
Whenever we say HAIL MARY, our spirit rejoices and sorrows fade away. When we say HAIL MARY, we are, in fact adoring the Living God and thanking Him for all He has done for us + (Blessed Alan de la Roche)

thought for the month: The Divine Maternity is the highest glory ever laid upon a creature; the Immaculate Conception is the grace proportioned to the glory. Both in grace and glory she is the first of creatures; for her Son was not a creature, but the Creator. (Cardinal Manning) |

Let us pray
In the evening of this life, I shall appear before Thee with empty hands, for I do not ask Thee, Lord, to count my works. All our goodness is stained and imperfect. I wish, then, to be clothed with Thine own goodness, and to receive Thee Thyself eternally, out of Thy love. I want no other place or crown but Thee, my Beloved. Lord, even if my conscience were burdened with every sin it is possible to commit, I would still throw myself into Thy arms, my heart broken with contrition. And I know how tenderly Thou dost welcome any prodigal child of Thine who comes back to Thee. +Amen + (St. Teresa of Lisieux) |

O Lord, who hast said: Except ye become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven: grant us, we beseech Thee, so to follow the footsteps of Saint Teresa, the little Flower, in humility and simplicity of heart, that we may attain unto eternal rewards.Through Christ Our Lord. + Amen + |

O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, hath purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation: grant, we beseech Thee, that we, who meditate upon these mysteries in the most sacred Rosary of the blessed Virgin Mary, may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise. Through the same Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever One God, throughout all ages, world without end. + Amen +
