DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS FOR JUNE 2008.
+
+A Meditation for the Month of June in which we thank JESUS for the love of His Sacred Heart+
If you would find the Fountain of the Water of Life and the glories of the Eternal Throne on which the Lord of the Sacred Heart sits and reigns for ever, go into any sanctuary where the light burns silently before the Tabernacle. Kneel there and cover your face. JESUS is there, and the ever-blessed Trinity, and the vision of peace, and the heavenly court, and the kingdom of His glory. The throne of God’s sovereignty is the Blessed Sacrament upon the Altar. The Sacred Heart of JESUS, our Lord and King, is there, always reigning, by the power of His love attracting the human will in all its freedom to Himself. And kneeling before the Tabernacle we speak with our Blessed Lord as a friend to a friend, opening our hearts to His Sacred Heart, and conversing with God as with One Who knows all we are by personal experience and human sympathy, and is infinitely pitiful and divinely tender in His love.

Bishop Anthony writes: How much time do we, any of us, even priests, spend before JESUS in the Tabernacle where He deigns to dwell in silence for the sake of us sinners? JESUS Who is True God and True Man actually present, not merely spiritually in our souls, but physically in the Tabernacle of every Catholic Church! How often do we visit Him in His adorable Sacrament? Easter was so early this year, but June is the month in which we ponder particularly on the Divine Eucharist and on the unspeakable love of our Saviour’s Sacred Heart. The feasts of Corpus Christi and The Sacred Heart were both this year in May; but the ArchConfraternity will keep a feast of The Eucharistic Heart of JESUS on Saturday, June 7th and a second celebration of the Sacred Heart on Friday, June 27th. At every Mass we adore the Broken, Risen, and Ascended Body of JESUS as we offer Him to the Father. We worship His physical Body and Blood – JESUS as truly present on the Altar as He was present in Mary’s womb and throughout His earthly life: JESUS Who chooses to nourish and sustain us in this way! As Cardinal Manning reminds us: Our Lord in the Tabernacle attracts us with all our free will to Himself. We should yearn to receive the Life of Christ in Holy Communion, just as every priest should yearn at the end of every Mass for the next Mass! Corpus Christi is a second Feast of the Nativity – Christmass in summer time and Christmass always in our hearts until we see JESUS face to face. And the Sacred Heart of JESUS and all His burning love for us sinners is our guarantee of that final Paradise.

Let us pray: O GOD, Who in a wonderful Sacrament hast left us a memorial of Thy Passion: grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate the Sacred Mysteries of Thy Body and Blood that we may ever perceive in our lives the fruits of Thy Redemption. Who livest and reignest One God unto ages of ages. +Amen+
And a passing thought
Regard every day as if you are then beginning for the first time. And always act with the same fervour that you had on the first day you began.
